About the Department:

The Department of Panchakarma is one of the most significant clinical branches of Ayurveda, focusing on purification and detoxification therapies that restore balance to the body and mind. Located in the scenic foothills of Dehradun, the department is equipped with modern infrastructure, including multiple therapy rooms for OPD, IPD patients.

Panchakarma therapies are designed to eliminate accumulated toxins, rejuvenate tissues, and strengthen immunity. The department emphasizes both preventive and curative healthcare, combining classical Ayurvedic wisdom with modern wellness approaches. Students are trained in the theoretical foundations and practical applications of Panchakarma, ensuring they gain hands-on experience in patient care.

Practical Exposure:

The Clinical Department of Panchakarma offers specialized OPD and IPD services with dedicated therapy rooms for patients. Treatments include the five classical Panchakarma procedures:

  • Vamana (therapeutic emesis)
  • Virechana (therapeutic purgation)
  • Basti (medicated enema)
  • Nasya (nasal therapy)
  • Raktamokshana (bloodletting therapy)

In addition, supportive therapies such as Abhyanga (oil massage), Swedana (sudation), Shirodhara, Shirobasti, and Udvartana are regularly practiced.

Students gain hands-on training in patient assessment, therapy administration, and follow-up care. The department also organizes wellness programs, awareness camps, and lifestyle counseling sessions, making Panchakarma accessible to the community while strengthening its role in preventive healthcare.
