The Department of Rasa Shastra evam Bhaishajya Kalpana is a crucial branch of Ayurveda that deals with the preparation, standardization, and administration of Ayurvedic medicines. It focuses on both herbal and herbo-mineral formulations, ensuring their efficacy, safety, and therapeutic potential.
- Rasa Shastra emphasizes the therapeutic use of metals and minerals, including their purification, incineration, and transformation into bioavailable forms.
- Bhaishajya Kalpana (Ayurvedic Pharmaceutics) involves the study of dosage forms such as Swarasa (juices), Churna (powders), Avaleha (herbal jams), Asava–Arishta (fermented liquids), Vati (tablets), and Ghrita (medicated ghee).
The department trains students in pharmaceutical processing, drug formulation, preservation techniques, and quality control, bridging classical Ayurvedic wisdom with modern pharmaceutical science.
