About the Department:

The Department of Shalakya Tantra specializes in Ayurvedic management of diseases related to the Eye, Ear, Nose, Throat, Oral cavity, teeth, and head. It integrates classical Ayurvedic wisdom with modern diagnostic approaches to provide comprehensive education and patient care. The department plays a vital role in training students in preventive, promotive, curative, and rehabilitative aspects of Shalakya Tantra, while also serving the community through clinical services.

  • To deliver effective Ayurvedic treatment for patients suffering from diseases of the Eye, ENT, Oral cavity, Dental, and Head regions.

  • To develop the department into a leading hub of Ayurvedic education, research, and clinical practice in Shalakya Tantra.
  • To promote holistic healthcare by combining Ayurvedic therapies with lifestyle guidance and preventive measures.
  • To serve society by offering affordable and effective Ayurvedic solutions for common and complex ENT, dental, and ophthalmic disorders.

Objectives

1. To impart quality education and clinical training in Shalakya Tantra to undergraduate students.
2. To provide preventive, promotive, curative, rehabilitative, and referral services for Eye, ENT, Oral, Dental, and Head diseases.
3. To popularize Ayurvedic kriya-kalpa procedures and therapies for managing degenerative, allergic, and progressive disorders.
4. To strengthen students’ practical skills through exposure to OPD/IPD services and specialized Ayurvedic treatments.
5. To contribute to community health through awareness programs and extension activities.

Practical Exposure:

The Clinical Department of Shalakya Tantra conducts regular OPDs for Eye, ENT, Oro-Dental, and Head diseases. Patients are treated using Ayurvedic medicines, Yoga, Marma therapy, and specialized Ayurvedic Kriya-Kalpa procedures such as:

  • Netra Seka, Netra Tarpana, Pindi, Aschyotana, Vidalaka
  • Shirodhara, Shirobasti, Shiroabhyanga, Shiropichu, Shirolepa
  • Kavala, Gandusha, Nasya Karma, Agni Karma, Kshara application, Sthanika Snehana, Swedana

The department also provides refraction and diagnostic facilities for Eye and ENT check-ups. Treatments have shown particular effectiveness in conditions such as allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, recurrent tonsillitis, headache, dental and periodontal degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, corneal dystrophies, retinal degenerative disorders, ARMD, progressive refractive errors, and various retinopathies.
